“Mad Rhymes”

I really enjoy using quotes as writing prompts. This one may not be the most sophisticated, however, a friend of mine once told me, “Dr. Seuss got mad raps, I love him” So, with that being said I would like to respond to one of my favorite “mad rhymes” of the one and only Dr. Seuss.

“Today you are you, truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.”  – Dr. Seuss

This is one of my favorites because it is short, sweet, true and to the point. From my experience, it is really easy to forget who we are, or get lost, or even casually lose 14 years of memories… hehe.

One of my favorite parts about humans is our resilience, it’s like we are a damn rubber band, we just bounce the frick back to our original selves no matter how far we are stretched. No matter what the situation, we will always go back to who we really are. I realize this metaphor is a bit of a stretch but it’s the truth. Basically, my point here is, I am not immune to this phenomenon of being stretched to nearly breaking point and then returning a little weaker but still myself. I have even had to make a list to get back to normal. It was titled “Things Erinn Likes” this is not a joke. I actually recommend doing this, it helped me focus on the things I want and need, opposed to the wants and needs of others. It is very much okay to put yourself first. All I’m trying to say here is I hope everyone is moving through life listening to the “mad rhymes” of good o’l Dr. Seuss. I truly feel like prioritizing yourself needs to be a priority. I’m just out here trying to preach some, most likely unwanted positivity.

Keep staying hydrated and stay out of your heads everyone!

Your favorite mediocre blogger,

Erinn
